It’s the age of start-ups, entrepreneurship and revamping family businesses with the changing domestic & global ecosystems. This elective hones innovative ideas & disruptive vision by providing a deep understanding of the process involved in launching a business from scratch or transforming an existing one.
While family business contribute a lion’s share of 79% in the GDP annually, India is home to 61,400 start-ups with at least 14,000 receiving a formal recognition.
Students will be mentored by the best in the industry, founders, and start-up owners. They will have an opportunity to present their best idea at Runway, an in-house incubation cell. Hence after completing the program, the students can choose to either open their own business or expand their family business. Besides understanding how domestic and global investments work, the curriculum also covers the techniques to run the business efficiently and effectively for success.
Digital Business and E-Commerce course focuses on the critical aspects of building a digital-ready business with key fundamentals. These include an understanding of buying and selling of goods and services, servicing customers, collaborating with business partners and conducting electronic transactions within an organization.
The diverse aspects will cover an understanding and leveraging the drivers of transformation to building a digital business strategy, leading organizations, and helping them navigate through the digital disruption.
Students will also get an opportunity to learn ways to spot the opportunities for disruption in various industries. This also includes developing a disruptive digital business model driven by a customer-centric product and build a winning marketing strategy for a digitally disrupted world. This elective will also provide essential digital leadership needed for any business to succeed.
Business Analytics and Data Science specialisation forms the backbone to every successful business in anticipating market trends, mapping consumer behavior and providing deep insights on several aspects to aid in sound business decisions. Besides a deep understanding of fundamentals, it helps students gain practical skills for working in real-time environments.
Business analytics is a set of activities and analytical techniques that are aimed at enhancing understanding of business. It can help with business planning, predictive analytics, decision-support systems, market segmentation, and other domains. Data science is the study of the process that provides insight or predictions to individuals or organizations and helps make sound decisions with actionable insights.
It provides in a hands-on, project-based program that combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills in the field of business intelligence. Students learn what it means to be a data scientist, as well as how to extract and transform data - essential skills for this high-demand career.
Marketing and Communication course decodes the processes that are involved in the fine art of communication and marketing by creating an impactful & recall value. This comprehensive elective arms students with key skill sets to work in the real world by walking them through marketing and communications theory, learning to write effective content, and explore different elements of design.
Marketing has many different types of products and services, from television ads to emails to print ads to blogs and more. On the other hand, communication is the art of expressing thoughts and ideas to an individual or a group. It can be verbally, in writing, using a computer or other technology, or visually, as in art and design.
Students will also be taught how a company markets its products, from the original thought process to marketing through social media and focuses on the digital side such as email to social media, branding to content creation.

- A majority of the industry's growth has been powered by an increase in internet and smartphone usage. By April 2021, the 'Digital India' programme has increased the number of internet connections in India to 782.86 million. Why Study @DSOB?
The candidate must have a minimum Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised university, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in any discipline. Candidates appearing in the final year/semester of the degree program can also apply subject to fulfilling the above notified eligibility criteria. The Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.
Candidates who have appeared for CAT, XAT, CMAT, NMAT, MAT, GMAT will be shortlisted directly to appear for the interview process. The cut-off scores to apply are – CAT/XAT – 50 Percentile CMAT/MAT/NMAT – 60 Percentile and GMAT – 400 marks. Those who have not taken any entrance exam can take the Pearl Academy General Proficiency Test.
On the basis of the GPT performance or the national level examination scores, only the shortlisted candidates will be called for Personal Interviews.
